About Kayla Ishmael

My name is Kayla. I am originally from Gwinnett but I grew up in Griffin, Georgia. My interests are soccer, drawing, and playing the piano. I chose Agnes Scott because my pastor advised me that the school looked at more than just test scores and I am more than just a number.  Even though I finished Magna Cum Laude in High School, I don’t test well. I appreciate the fact that Agnes Scott looks at the whole person.  I am currently pursuing a double major in Sociology&Anthropology and Art with a minor in Psychology.

Everything I do is based on passion and enjoyment. If I don’t have a drive for it, I more than likely won’t do it.  For instance, I played soccer for ten years before giving it up to concentrate on my academics during my senior year.  I’ve participated in multiple sports and activities over the years before settling upon one and sticking with it.

I have always been passionate about my African American community solely because those are my roots. This passion has transpired into a potential career path. Studying one’s mannerisms in the African American community I am interested in Sociology & Anthropology.

I recently discovered my passion for art along with natural artistic abilities that have led me towards an Art major.

Considering I started off my college journey with some Psychology credits. I didn’t want to waste the time spent so I applied it towards my minor.
